Tandoori Masala – a typical Indian blend of spices
Hot Chili, spicy Curry – the Indian kitchen stands for a variety of many different spices which are deployed creatively and artfully. Tandoori Masala presumably is the most known Indian spice at all. Masala – if translated - actually only means “blend of spices”. Accordingly it is not really surprising that there is not only just one mixture for this typical Indian spice. However, the main ingredients of Tandoori Masala presumably are very fine pestled / crushed Chilis, Cumin and Coriander seeds. The bright red colour is often intensified by Red Pepper, Saffron and Curcuma. Additional ingredients quite often are Ginger, Garlic, Cardamom, Cloves and Cinnamon. Generally, the Indian spice is used for marinating of dishes which are prepared in the traditional Tandoori earthen stove. Apart from the well known Tandoori Chicken there are also fish and meat dishes like lamb. Discover a famous part of culinary India with our Indian Box!
